Australians Pose As Professional Golfers to Enter North Korea [Video]

Australians Morgan Ruig and Evan Shay aren’t very good at golf, but that might be because they have enormous balls, which makes swinging a golf club difficult. These two Aussie blokes thought it would be a fun idea to enter the annual North Korean Golf Open via email, as a joke. But when they received a response from North Korean golf officials accepting their application, they decided to cut short a trip to Beijing and head to Pyongyang.

“We just emailed them really. I don’t think they’re massive on the internet over there so I don’t think they had many opportunities to research,” Shay told reporters.

When they arrived, they were handed green blazers with patches. It was all very official… Until they started shanking shots into the water. That’s when people at the tournament realized they had been duped. One of the caddies allegedly even told the pair that they had brought great shame on their families. Luckily for the two Australians, the North Koreans continued to let them play in the tournament and get a tour of the country. They were a little nervous that they wouldn’t get their passports back, but everything worked out in the end.

This is a hilarious story, yes, but these guys are also massive imbeciles. It wasn’t even a year ago that Otto Warmbier, an American student at the University of Virginia, was arrested and detained indefinitely in a North Korean work camp. If these two had been arrested or something, that would 100% have been on them. This would have been a much less funny story.

But all’s well that ends well, so check out their absurd tale in the video below.
