Man Leaves Hospital After Stabbing And Gets Stabbed Again

A Jersey City man told police he was stabbed in separate incidents a few hours apart last night and early this morning, Jersey City police said.

The 34-year-old was walking east on Van Nostrand Avenue between 6:45 and 7 p.m. Sunday when he was stabbed in the left calf and left thigh in an attack from behind by possibly five people, the man told police.

The victim called for an ambulance and he was treated and released from Jersey City Medical Center-RWJBarnabas Health at 8:10 p.m., police said, noting that he did not report the crime until after the second incident.

The man told police he took a bus home from the hospital and he got off when he was halfway home, police said. He told police he was walking the rest of the way when he was approached by a group, possibly the same people who assaulted him earlier.

Again he was stabbed, this time in the arm. By the time the 34-year-old got home, he was bleeding profusely from the wound and his wife called police at 1:14 a.m., a police report said.

The victim told police that his assailants never said a word, and that he could not describe any of them. He also could not identify or remember the location of the attacks, police said.
